The International Community School of Addis Ababa is a premier early childhood through grade 12 school offering a holistic, vigorous and inclusive program. An International Baccalaureate School, accredited in the United States of America, ICS serves a diverse, multicultural student body on a beautiful, well-equipped campus. We currently educate nearly 1000 students from 60+ countries with a mission to nurture the talents, character and intellect of all learners, challenging them to be a positive influence and empowering them to excel in their world. Our elementary school is accredited as a Primary Year Program (PYP) School, and we encourage all our students in high school to participate in the IB Diploma Program.

Service learning is an integral part of learning at ICS Addis, many opportunities for students to design, lead and facilitate service projects.

ICS is in a PLC journey that ensures personalized learning and student agency in which all students learn at high levels while their individual needs are met. In all the academic engagements, our teachers ask the four essential PLC questions:

Q1: What is it that we want our kids to know and be able to do?

Q2: How will we know they know it?

Q3: What will we do if they don’t know it?

Q4 What will we do if they already know it?

ICS is committed to providing a highly effective learning progressive education in which students develop a solid conceptual understanding of what they learn while maintaining their high achievements at international standards.

We firmly believe in the importance of continuous professional development of our teachers. To this end our teachers take part in various professional development opportunities individually and as a PLC team.
